The ensemble NEOPERCUSIÓN was formed in 1994. The group covers all ambits of music: classical, ethnic and contemporary. Its activity is extremely varied, running from performance to teaching, as well as research and raising the profile of everything relating to percussion instruments. NEOPERCUSIÓN creatively and skilfully combines their performances of this rich instrumental universe with a commitment to working with different performing-arts creators, commissioning and performing new works. NEOPERCUSIÓN's proposals, always attractive and tailored to suit each, individual stage, have been presented at all kinds of events, from classical-music festivals such as those held in Santander, Granada, Galicia and the Festival Otoño Musical Soriano, to contemporary-music workshops such as the Alicante Festival or Musiques d'Aujourd'hui in Perpignan (France), Quincena Musical Donostiarra, as well as various performing-arts activities such as Madrid en Danza-Espacios Insólitos, Aula de Nuevas Músicas (Valencia) and those held at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. Their success and the response shown by audiences have made NEOPERCUSIÓN an international reference in Spanish contemporary percussion. Together with the Trío Arbós, NEOPERCUSIÓN participate in, and are responsible for, the artistic direction of the "Residencias" cycle organised by the Centro de la Difusión para la Música Contemporánea, whose concerts take place at the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. NEOPERCUSIÓN has released four CDS on its own label, Kusion Records: Todas las caras de la percusión (1997), Música hispanoamericana para percusión (1998), URBETHNIC by Neopercusión (1998) and Credo in Cage (2003). Juanjo Guillem-“Y todo esto me ha ocurrido por culpa de la música” (2007), Juanjo Guillem-Deus ex maquina (2007) and just been published with the label LIM his last CD “PERCUSIÓN PLUS” with music by Jesús Villa Rojo.
